REMEMBERING
REGION 11 FRIENDS...
As our organization becomes older, so do we.
How many of you remember the Sweet Adeline Calendar with
large Chapter pictures? Maryellen Spence presented
it to the region and it was used for many years. Maryellen
was also a past president of SANTA MONICA CHAPTER and
devised what may have been the fi rst velcro costume
that changed completely, on stage, for the 1967 Championship.
Lucille Spitzer, another SANTA
MONICA past president, was an early winning
arranger, with her name on the first Arrangers Trophy.
Maryellen died December 21, 2006 and Lucille passed on
in January.
Another one of "the old gang", needs your positive
thoughts and prayers. Anita Henkens was
admitted to UCLA's hospital with a stroke and a heart
attack in February. Pioneers of Region 11 are still going,
but at about 80 years or so, we're happy to have "been
there and done that".
