Channelaire sings their way
into the finals with 500+ Region 11 "hometown" fans
cheering in the audience. |
| Making
the finals for the 2nd time, Channelaire earns 9th place medals
in the "Clash
of the Titans" — the most competitive chorus contest
in recent years. |
 |
 |
Shimmer! owns the stage and
makes the cut!! By placing 15th, they automatically earn a
spot to compete in Calgary in 2007 without having to compete
at the regional level. |
| After placing 9th last year
in Detroit, Xtreme wows the Vegas crowd and judges, and moves
up to take 6th place medals this year! |

• A broken water pipe
• Three inches of
standing water
• A broken hip
• An emergency trip
to Pennsylvania
• Constant congestion
and chronic cough
• An episode of
“Extreme Makeover:
Home Edition”
• TOXIC MOLD
What do all these things have in common? They were the catalyst
for this new ONLINE version of New@11 that you’re reading
today.
Just before Labor Day, a pipe burst in my house and I had 3
inches of standing water. On that same day, my Mom (who lives
in Pennsylvania) fell and broke her hip. The next day, I had
the pipe fixed and then flew off to PA on a red-eye that night
to be with my Mom for 8 days.
On Sunday, October 1, I was watching, “Extreme Makeover:
Home Edition” – an episode in which the father
had died of toxic mold in the house. I freaked out and called
a mold testing company the very next day. I found out 2 days
before leaving for Vegas that I have a toxic mold problem in
my house. The worst area is in my office where my computer
is. That area is off limits until I get the mold removed.
So… I had to think of a way to get an issue of News@11
out to the region!
I have been wanting to explore the possibility of doing News@11
as an electronic newsletter for a few years now. Some regions
have successfully moved away from printed newsletters and only
send it out electronically. Others tried it for a few years,
but have gone back to printed copies. Others – like me – have
been reluctant to make the leap.
But, due to the saga of my house – which I’ve been
calling “The Mold and the Beautiful! – I have been
forced to make that leap into the electronic age of News@11.
I know this is a big change for Region 11. And believe me,
I know change is hard (for me, too!). Considering the circumstances,
I really didn’t have much of a choice. But… think
of the advantages to having News@11Online:
• All photos are in
full color!
• No limit to the number
of articles that can
be included
• Printing times are
eliminated, so article
submission deadlines
are moved closer to
the actual regional
events where
News@11 is usually
distributed
• Send the link to family
and friends to read all
about you!
• Could potentially
save the region over
$1000 a year in
printing costs!
News@11Online isn’t necessarily a permanent
replacement for the printed version of News@11. But I would
like to consider the possibilities. So I would like your feedback.
What DO you like about News@11Online? What DON’T
you like about it? Please e-mail me at curtisnotes@aol.com.
Depending on the feedback, we may try this e-Newsletter idea
for a few issues, just to see how it goes! –Debbie |
